Knockdowns That Stand Up, 2011

5 ½ x 5 ½ inches, 64 pages
 Artists Book Edition of 15
An autobiographical account that uses original advertising copy, newspaper articles and photographs to tell the story of a wacky upbringing in suburban Connecticut in the l950’s and 60’s. The author contrasts the cheery portrayal of family life in promotional material from FIRST FURNITURE, the line of children’s furniture her father produced, with the more complicated and sometimes conflicting messages from her parents at home.  Illustrated with family photographs and interweaving family stories and jokes, the author tells of growing up with three sisters in a manner not exactly as advertised. Printed and hand bound in NYC, contains fifteen black and white photos and comes in an archival cardboard box.
